I’m Marina, an artist with a passion for painting and storytelling. I create joyful illustrations that are all about spreading smiles and good vibes. My animal paintings are kind of my thing—they’re bright, happy, and sometimes a little funny!

I come from sunny Greece, but I’m now lucky to call Wageningen my home. Originally a biologist who painted all the time, I came to Wageningen to study at WUR. Inspired by the young, multicultural atmosphere of the town, I started my creative journey teaching art classes and workshops for students. Soon after, I decided to take a leap of faith and finally follow my dreams of being a full-time artist!

Now, I work on projects as a freelance illustrator and run a gift product business, "Painted by Marina". I am especially passionate about working on projects involving science, animal welfare, nature & environment, human & LGBTQ+ rights.

I created Painted by Marina because of my love of cute stationary (like stickers, cards and bookmarks) and in hopes of creating my version of these products. My goal is to create a series of colourful and inspiring goodies that brighten your mood and are great gifts for people you love. I make everything by hand in my home studio, so everything you'll get is unique and made with lots of care.
